CROSS COUNTRY RACE, BARU SAHIB

Akal Academy, Baru Sahib’s boys and girls of grade 6 to 12 today participated in full enthusiasm in the ‘Cross Country Race’ a sport in which teams and individuals run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain such as dirt or grass. This sport activity is held every year. The participants were divided in 6 category groups, 6TH to 8TH Class Girls, 9TH to 10TH Class Girls, 11TH to 12TH Class Girls, 6TH to 8TH Class Boys, 9TH to 10TH Class Boys and 11TH to 12TH Class Boys.Twelve winners are selected in each group. The first four winners are awarded with gold medals. Second four winners get silver medals and bronze medals are given to the remaining four winners. The prize distribution ceremony is scheduled on the Sports Day organized on 14th November every year. Leading to the sports day, 19 sports events are planned and Cross Country Race is the first event, which marked the beginning of the entire campaign. Out of 19 events, 4 events namely Cross Country Race, Shot Put, Long Jump, 200 Meter Race are compulsory for all students to participate. Cross Country Race was headed and supervised by Sports H.O.D Sikander Singh and sports teachers Gagadeep singh, Ajay Kumar, Suresh Singh, Ravinder Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur, Anuradha,The race helps in improving the endurance of the students, competition spirit, builds their stamina and makes them physically and mentally strong. Karam Pal Kaur and Manish Kumar assisted and coordinated with Sikandar Singh for this event.
