The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted a two-day Capacity Building Programme on Classroom Management for teachers at Akal Academy on November 24th & 25th. The resource team from CBSE, Delhi included Neera Chopra and the program was attended by 33 teachers.
The session began with teachers illustrating and presenting their ideal classroom. It was then followed by an introduction and a discussion on Classroom Management. The session mainly focused on the three components of Effective Classroom Management: • Content Management • Conduct Management • Covenant Management. The session helped the teachers to adopt various techniques to make the teaching and learning process more effective. Many topics such as – Understanding Classroom Management, Physical Arrangement in Classroom, Components of Effective Classroom, Teaching Styles, Learning Styles, Managing Classes with Large Number of Student and Management of Inter-Personal Relationships were covered in the session. The workshop revolved around active discussions between the teachers and the resource person. Teachers were introduced to various innovative methods for managing classrooms. The importance of building a rapport with the children was also discussed.
