At Akal Academy Baru Sahib, an international boarding school since 1986, education blends academic excellence with co-curricular enrichment to nurture the whole child. As part of our activity-based learning, students recently engaged in a Home Science session, exploring the art and science of culinary preparation. This session lead by expert Gurudev Kaur Ji, a veteran in the field.
Through live demos, ingredient exploration and team-based cooking, both boys and girls learned to prepare:

Akal Academy Youth Ambassadors – Our HOPE!
As the UK alumni connect continues under Akal Connect, yet another proud alumnus of Akal Academy Baru Sahib, HP (a legacy envisioned by Sant Attar Singh Ji Maharaj, Sant Teja Singh ji and actualised by Baba Iqbal Singh Ji) came forward with heartfelt reverence.
Dr. Tarun Singh, a practicing psychiatrist now based in Sussex, UK and currently pursuing his specialization in Adult Psychiatry at Oxford, visited to seek blessings from Dr. Davinder Singh Ji.
A graduate of Akal Academy Baru Sahib, Dr. Tarundeep Singh spent two transformative years at the Academy, years that laid the foundation of his multidisciplinary path. From theatre and debate to languages and sports, and above all, spiritual grounding, Baru Sahib shaped not just his intellect but his purpose.
"I recall this child (Tarundeep Singh) when he was in school with us, he asked deep, thoughtful questions. His mind was always inquiring, especially about the connection between scientific concepts and spirituality. Over the years, he remained in touch with us, and it has been a delight to witness his journey. From medical school to clearing competitive exams in the UK, from his first degree to his second, Gurbani has been his constant anchor. Today, he serves in UK, blending psychological insight with the empathy rooted in his early education. His exposure at AABS to students from diverse backgrounds, ranging from NRIs to children from rural, underprivileged families, deepened his understanding of human emotion and resilience. He often recalls the humility of the sewadars and the life-changing power of value-based education.
Returning to meet his spiritual teachers was not just a visit; it was a heartfelt homecoming.
To him, Baru Sahib is not just an institution, it is a second home, where he found not only mentors, but spiritual parents, whose blessings continue to illuminate his journey.
A journey of knowledge, gratitude, and seva, still beautifully unfolding.

Sikh History Comes Alive Through Little Hearts at Akal Academy Baru Sahib.
As part of event-based learning, our young IB PYP learners from Grades 1 to 5 stepped into the footsteps of Sikh heroes and saints, expressing timeless values through beautiful performances, storytelling, and choreography.
Bibi Rajni’s Story
Our little ones enacted the journey of Bibi Rajni, who showed deep faith in God even in the hardest times.
Moral - the students learned:
– To always trust God
– To stay strong and kind, even when life is tough
Bhai Bhikhari Ji’s Story
Through gentle actions like sweeping and serving, children understood how Bhai Bhikhari Ji found joy in helping others without any pride.
Moral - the students learned:
– No work is small when done with love
– Helping others is a way to connect with God
Bhai Lalo and Malik Bhago’s Story
With a simple roti in hand, students brought alive the message that honest work is better than wealth earned unfairly.

Ajay House’s Choreography – Virasat-e-Khalsa
Children performed iconic Sikh events—Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s sacrifice, Sahibzaade’s bravery, and Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Khalsa spirit—through expressive dance and role-play.
💡 Moral -the students learned:
– To stand up for truth and justice
– To feel proud of their Sikh identity
– To live with courage, equality, and service
This wasn’t just a performance. It was learning through living, feeling through doing, and growing through values—the heart of event-based learning at Akal Academy Baru Sahib.

Inter-House Math Quiz at Akal Academy Matter
At Akal Academy Baru Sahib, learning goes beyond textbooks—and the recent Inter-House Mathematics Quiz Competition proved just that.
This wasn’t just a test of formulas; it was a vibrant display of logical thinking, teamwork, and resilience. Students from Grades VI to XII came together in an atmosphere buzzing with energy, focus, and the thrill of solving problems under pressure.
These events matter the most to us because they build more than academic knowledge. They foster critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and confidence—skills essential for real-world success.
Through this engaging experience, students discovered that math is more than numbers; it’s a tool for sharpening the mind and building persistence. And when tackled in teams, it becomes a journey of shared growth.
At Akal Academy, we believe such opportunities are essential in shaping value-driven individuals, rooted in compassion, equipped with wisdom, and guided by integrity to lead with purpose in a changing world.

Gagan mai thaal rav cha(n)dh deepak bane, taarikaa ma(n)ddal janak motee ||
In the divine spirit of Gurmat Parchaar, the Jatha of Akal Academy Baru Sahib recited this celestial Aarti of Sahib Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Ranchi, creating an atmosphere of pure devotion and spiritual stillness. The students rendered the shabad with traditional string instruments like Rabab (as played by Bhai Mardana Ji), Dilruba and Taus (instruments of Guru Gobind Singh Ji), and the Tanpuri. Back at Akal Academy Baru Sahib, these instruments are taught to students as part of their extracurricular training, alongside regular scholastic education, nurturing both their spiritual and artistic growth.
After the successful Kirtan Diwan, Gurmat Camp, and Self-Defense session at Ranchi, the Jatha is now continuing its spiritual journey with ongoing engagements at Ramgarh Cantt—a place of deep Sikh legacy, home to the Sikh Regiment and Punjab Regimental Centers.
